The House

We promote the sale of a unique, grade II listed 18th century house in the heart of a thriving  market town. The characterful home (see photos) has been extensively modernised whilst retaining the charm of all the original features and  provides a convenient location and ample family living space. The private garden slopes gently down to the banks of one of the country’s premier trout-fishing rivers - the Teifi, a haven of tranquility offering wonderful views across the water to the open meadows beyond.

The Town

Newcastle Emlyn is situated upon the meanders of the Teifi river, landmarked in the valley by the ruins of the 13th century castle and weir. It is a friendly bilingual community which straddles the borders of Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion and is well connected to the local towns of Cardigan and Carmarthen and beyond to Swansea, Cardiff and the M4.

The town is well equipped with sports and leisure facilities; in addition to standard amenities, Newcastle Emlyn boasts a number of specialist shops sought after in the region: children’s toys, designer clothes and nursery equipment; continental deli food; ladies’ boutique clothing; art & crafts ; kitchenware, etc. There is an array of ethnic cuisines and a number of friendly pubs. There is a small secondary school situated upon the valley slopes at the edge of the town and a choice of primary schools to be selected from surrounding villages and within the town itself. See links for more information

The Region

Newcastle Emlyn’s immediate surroundings are rolling hills and wooded valleys with scattered waterfalls and clear streams. It is a 10 minute drive to the nearest secluded beaches and wildlife on the Ceredigion coast, with areas of natural beauty such as the Pembrokeshire coastal path, the Preseli Hills and the Elan Valley on the doorstep, whilst  Southern Snowdonia is within easy access. It is a paradise for keen walkers and for oudoor sports, and the region is also culturally served by the ancient University of Lampeter and several excellent Arts Centres.
